The heat began when the signature of the beam leaked the first images of the new Opel Astra, the latest generation of this German compact. Despite the camouflage, the evolution in its aesthetics was already noticeable, which acquired the patterns that are a trend in the segment preferred by driving enthusiasts. We got the first impressions of its driving with the car completely covered, but they promised to keep the sensations at the top of the priorities of the firm. Little by little we were discovering more about this novelty and finally we can talk about its arrival in the Spanish market, with an access price of 22,700 euros for the less powerful block of its family. We are talking about 1.2-liter gasoline with turbo and direct injection of 110 hp and six-speed manual gearbox, which signs an approved consumption of 5.5 to 5.2 l / 100 km in the WLTP cycle .
There is a pioneering variant in the portfolio of the new Astra, which introduces electrification in its offering with a plug-in hybrid model. Being part of the Stellantis conglomerate, after its absorption by the PSA group less than five years ago, allows it to evolve significantly in the area of efficiency. This Astra Hybrid uses the same system that we have already seen in the Peugeot, with a joint power of 180 hp and a range of up to 60 kilometers in the WLTP cycle , for the front-wheel drive option. This variant starts from 32,100 euros but, if we want something more performance, we will opt for the all- wheel drive variant with 225 hp that will arrive in early 2023 .
We talked at length about its aesthetics in the first article of the Astra 2022, but we can review its main characteristics. With the Mokka we were aware of the qualitative leap in the Opel design language, structured on the front Opel Vizor. This compact adopts the grille with simple and technological lines, illuminated by a fully adaptive Intelli-Lux LED Pixel matrix technology. An evolution that we also see inside, with the new Opel Pure Panel with digital instrumentation that improves the human-machine interface to achieve a better connection.
