It is not often that criminal acts take decades to solve. In the case of a 69-year-old who is said to have murdered two women in the 1990s, that was successful.
Hamburg – In the trial for the murder of two women in the 90s, the 69-year-old defendant was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment.
“Murder never expires,” said the presiding judge Jessica Koerner on Tuesday in front of the Hamburg district court. It seldom happens that offenses can be solved after such a long time.
This is thanks to the Soko “Cold Cases”, which reassessed the two cases and enabled the court to clarify them after all. The court assumes that the German abused, strangled and robbed the two women, aged 28 and 79, in their apartments in Hamburg.
The investigators had noticed parallels to the 69-year-old’s previous acts. The defendant had already been sentenced to nine years imprisonment with subsequent preventive detention by the Lübeck Regional Court for attempted murder in unity with dangerous bodily harm – the victim was his own niece. dpa
