Electrification can be an ally for fans of sports driving, and it is being demonstrated with the launch of performance models such as the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered. We have told you about the most powerful model in the history of the French firm, both at its launch and during the test days at the Jarama circuit. The promise of exciting sensations was fulfilled on the Spanish track but we had to check its dynamic handling on the road, and it did not disappoint. Its 360 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain powers the most elegant saloon to date with a special forcefulness, without being radical and very easy to control by all types of drivers. This electrified 508 is now available at Leon dealerships, which have changed their corporate image along with the logo, from 64,300 for conventional bodywork .
The news broke a few months ago, when Peugeot confirmed its participation in the World Endurance Championship with the 9×8 Hypercar. This prototype with avant-garde design and unique details, such as the lack of a huge spoiler in the rear area, has been developed with a clear objective: to conquer the 24 Hours of Le Mans . The involvement of the firms with this test, which has gone down in history by adapting to the introduction of hybrid prototypes, demonstrates the approach of the manufacturers. It’s time for electrification, a category that will end the iconic LMP1s that raised the Peugeo 908 HDi to stardom with the third victory and laurel.
The aerodynamic work on the Peugeot 9×8 Hypercar has been transferred directly to the 508 PSE, an acronym for the new Peugeot Sport Engineered sports division . Clearly part of the production saloon, but the aerodynamic details and mechanical components go a step further. It retains details such as the light clusters with the claw, something as characteristic as it is attractive, and its highly technological interior with the already evolved (with augmented reality) Peugeot i-Cockpit with a 10-inch central screen and raised instrument panel (above the steering wheel ) 12.3 inches . But there is much more, and we will tell you about it in the next gallery.
