The City 30 concept refers to the new speed regulations in urban centers, which have been drastically reduced in favor of safety and the reduction of victims of traffic accidents. According to the studies proposed by the DGT , this decision will achieve a better coexistence between all the types of mobility that currently exist: cars, motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, cycles and whatever arises. A lower accident rate will, in turn, make the centers belong to the people again and recover a space that was lost due to the desire for private transport. This new regulation comes at a key moment, full of restrictions for polluting vehicles, so that new propulsion technologies are another challenge for the citizen. In order to solve the doubts, of both changes, Renault Group, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) , have launched the Urban Program .
This educational project is formulated as a roadshow that will visit 15 Spanish cities between 2021 and 2022 , in order to show the advantages of driving assistance assistants, safety, the urgency of 30 cities and e-Mobility. This trip started on October 21 and 22 at the VI Meeting of Cities for Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility , which was held in Zaragoza.
More education in the future
The first day in Zaragoza marked the format of the rest, allowing those interested in the City 30, the safety devices (ADAS) of the cars and the range of Renault E-Tech vehicles could easily register. So that the members of the classes value technology for what it is, an ally of safe driving, some actions will be taught through the Virtual Network and Augmented Reality . Two concepts that Renault is working on in all its departments, also for the development of the more sustainable and efficient E-Tech variants such as the hybrid Renault Captur .
As stated by Pere Navarro, Director of the DGT, during the presentation of the Urban Program: “Actions such as the one we present today show how important public-private collaboration is on an issue such as road safety, which affects us all of us and in which we are all responsible ”. I also take this opportunity to defend lanes 30: “because we believe that it is an important step to calm traffic and reduce injury in the event of an accident for vulnerable users.”
A formative motorhome
The roadtrip of the Urban Program will tour Spain in a Motorchome that will allow them to get closer to the citizens of the national cities. In this way, they study “to show them that another way of moving around cities is possible”. A project that interested Renault and Sébastien Guigues, CEO of Renault and Alpine Iberia , who defends their participation: “this roadshow is our contribution to making Spanish cities better and shows our commitment to people’s safety and sustainable mobility” .
Those attending the course will be able to live a unique Virtual Reality experience in the Motorhome, feeling the hustle and bustle that causes a collapse in traffic. All this on board an E-Tech model of the rhombus, with its technology at your disposal and the great ride comfort produced by its electrified propulsion. “Not surprisingly, Renault has been leading electric mobility for more than ten years and has the largest number of zero-emission vehicles rolling through Spanish cities and highways,” stated Guigues. In addition, they will also be offered a real test of the Rhombus’ hybrid and plug-in hybrid family. The cities that remain to be visited are: Malaga, Córdoba, Murcia, Alicante, Mallorca, Vitoria, Santander, Guadalajara, Salamanca, Tenerife and Las Palmas .
