Ghislaine Maxwell is guilty: she actively supported Jeffrey Epstein in his acts of abuse. The planning for the sentence hearing must now be in place by January 10th.
New York – The judge in the abuse trial against Ghislaine Maxwell has given the prosecution and defense until next Monday (January 10th) time to come up with a plan to negotiate a sentence.
The 60-year-old is threatened with several decades of imprisonment, among other things for trafficking minors for abuse purposes. There is no date for the announcement of the penalty. In the USA, in some particularly complex cases, the determination of guilt and the assessment of the sentence are negotiated separately and not announced on the same day.
Guilty verdict last Wednesday
The ex-partner of the deceased US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found guilty of sex crimes against minors last Wednesday. In the opinion of the jury, Maxwell played a central role in building a ring on the sexual abuse of girls as an assistant to the highly networked businessman Epstein.
Judge Alison Nathan, in Monday’s notice, also asked those involved to propose a separate pending trial for perjury against Maxwell. dpa
