The RKI reports the current number of corona cases for Germany every day. New infections, deaths and incidence rise on Tuesday.
Frankfurt – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has again reported an increase in the official nationwide seven-day incidence. The RKI stated the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Tuesday morning (January 4th, 2022) as 239.9. It has been increasing from day to day since December 30th, although the RKI continues to assume that new infections will be under-recorded due to fewer tests and reports during the holidays and vacations.
RKI informs about lower test and reporting activity
“During the holidays and at the turn of the year, it should be noted when interpreting the number of cases that less test and reporting activity can be expected, so that the data shown in the dashboard and management report could only provide an incomplete picture of the epidemiological situation in Germany.”
For comparison: on Monday the nationwide corona incidence value was 232.4, a week ago it was 215.6 (previous month: 432.2). The health authorities in Germany reported 30,561 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5:19 a.m. Exactly one week ago there were 21,080 infections.

The case numbers of the RKI can differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission routes between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day.
Corona case numbers for Germany: RKI reports 356 deaths in 24 hours
The RKI has counted 7,238,408 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized. The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Monday as 3.07 (Sunday 3.12).

According to the new information, 356 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 372 deaths. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 112,579. The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered on Tuesday at 6,531,900.
An infection with the novel coronavirus can show itself in various symptoms and leads to Covid-19 disease: A disease can then take different courses of the corona. The corona vaccines that have been approved in Germany are supposed to help people. The Novavax corona vaccine, like other vaccines, has side effects – it is about to be approved. (jey / dpa)
