After storm “Zeynep”, storm “Antonia” is in the starting blocks
At least three people lost their lives in Germany as a result of the storm “Zeynep”*. According to an initial estimate, the storm caused insured damage of more than 900 million euros in Germany. At the start of the weekend, “Zeynep” caused a storm surge in the north, rail traffic disruptions and accidents on the roads. But there is no sign of calming down on Sunday evening and Monday either.
With storm “Antonia” the next storm is already in the starting blocks. Accompanied by a cold front, it will move across Germany from the west from 9 p.m. Meteorologists expect hurricane-force gusts of up to 115 km/h wind speed*, strong shows and thunderstorms. “We have to get through the storm situation until Monday,” explains a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.
