New Corona rules: These relaxations apply in Germany from today

The three-stage plan adopted by the federal and state governments will enter the second round on March 4th. Some relaxation of the Corona rules will come into force today.

Berlin – Finally going to concerts again or dancing in the club: that’s what many Germans have been longing for for a few months. Longings will soon be satisfied. By March 20th, in a three-stage plan*, almost all corona restrictions* are to be abolished, the federal and state governments decided in February*. The reasons given for the easing were the milder omicron infections and the falling number of cases.

Some easing came into force immediately after the decision on February 16. Contact restrictions for vaccinated and those who have recovered and the 2G rule in retail have been lifted. The next level of easing will follow on Friday, March 4, 2022.

Relaxation of the Corona rules: Less 2G from today, more visitors at major events

In the future, unvaccinated people will be able to eat or stay overnight again, since the 3G rule will apply in restaurants, hotels and other accommodation options from March 4th. This means that not only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered, but also those who have been tested have access. Unvaccinated people still have to show a negative test or proof of recovery.

Young people in particular could be happy about the fact that clubs and discotheques are reopening. However, the 2G-Plus rule applies there, which states that only vaccinated and recovered people with a negative corona test have access.

New upper limits for the number of participants will apply at major events in the future. A maximum of 25,000 visitors or an occupancy rate of 75 percent applies to outdoor events. For events in closed rooms, only 60 percent of the capacity may be used, or 6000 visitors may be present. The 2G or 2G-Plus rule also applies to major events

Relaxation of the Corona rules in Germany at a glance

  • 3G rule in gastronomy and hotels
  • Clubs and discotheques open under 2G-Plus
  • Major events under 2G or 2G-Plus; Maximum occupancy indoors 6,000 people maximum (or 60 percent), outdoors maximum 25,000 people (or 75 percent)

Relaxation of the Corona rules – hardly any restrictions from March 20th

From March 20th, almost all corona measures are to be lifted nationwide. Only basic protective measures such as the obligation to wear masks indoors and distance and hygiene regulations should continue to apply. In some cases, corona tests can still be requested. Unvaccinated people should have access to public spaces again as far as possible. The home office obligation also ends*.

Many easing are regulated at state level, which is why some states are easing further, while other states are adopting stricter regulations. Since the infection process is dynamic, the decisions regarding the corona restrictions also remain dynamic and can change daily. (Monja Stolz) *hna.de is an offer from IPPEN-MEDIA.
