Will the weather in Germany stay that cold even at Pentecost? An expert speaks of “chaos weather” and has a gruesome forecast.
Offenbach – The weather * in spring * in Germany so far disappointed across the board. Too cold, too wet, too changeable – this is how one could describe the last few months without exaggerating. On the Whitsun days, many look forward to making the most of the holidays – be it with hikes, barbecues or camping trips.
But the weather has to play along for such plans. According to a current forecast * for Pentecost, an expert is now making a real shiver forecast and even speaks of “scary weather”. Because in some parts of Germany, “Pentecost snow” could literally snow in the holiday plans of many people.

Whitsun weather: Expert with “chaos” forecast for Germany
Warmth and sun pampered, May definitely not have that when it comes to the weather. Instead of early summer temperatures and sunshine, there was mostly rain * in many parts of Germany. Storms * passed over some parts of the country. Only on Mother’s Day did Peter seem sympathetic. It brought peak temperatures. Now many are counting on the fact that there may be another change on the days of Pentecost, which will cause temperatures to skyrocket. But is this hope justified?
For Dominik Jung from the weather service Q.met, the forecasts of the weather models look rather bleak. Opposite wetter.net he announced “chaos weather” and added: “Around Whitsun it looks more like Whitsun snow in the high areas than Whitsun summer”. And the qualified meteorologist also has a forecast up his sleeve for the rest of Germany.

Whitsun weather: when will it finally be warm in Germany?
There is no trace of long-lasting warmth even at Pentecost. The American weather model assumes that temperatures are too low. Germany is in the blue area on Whitsunday (May 22, 2021) in the NOAA model. “That means too cool for the current season,” emphasizes Dominik Jung. In the south on the edge of the Alps, the thermometer will only reach 10 to 11 degrees Celsius *. In the rest of the country, temperatures climb to 14 to a maximum of 17 degrees Celsius. A similar tragedy awaits us on Whitsunday in the weather. It is “relatively hypothermic”, according to the qualified meteorologist. In the east of Germany it could be 18 degrees Celsius. In the rest of the country, 12 to 17 degrees Celsius is expected.
Whit Monday doesn’t have much early summer in store either. The weather in Germany is becoming a little friendlier with a mix of sun and clouds in the south – the 20 degree mark could be cracked there. But it is still too cold in the north and east of the country. 13 to 16 degrees are possible in the north and only 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the east, reports Dominik Jung.

Weather in Germany at Pentecost: do the holidays fall through the water?
But will it at least be dry on Pentecost? The chances are slim there too. “The whole week will be wet”, emphasizes Jung and speaks of “scary weather” when it comes to the Whitsun weather. In Germany, a total of between 35 and 50 liters of precipitation per square meter is expected by Whit Monday (May 24th, 2021). The rain increases even more in the Alps. Up to 100 liters are even expected there.
In the higher altitudes it could also turn white again. There is up to 50 centimeters of fresh snow in it. “Especially from Whit Sunday to Whit Monday, the forecast in the entire Alpine region shows us that snow is to be expected,” says the qualified meteorologist and adds: “So no hiking weather over the Whitsun days in the Alpine region, this is just a first warning . “Unfortunately, there is still no trace of early summer. The long-term forecast for the weather in Germany in the summer of 2021 also hardly gives rise to hope for long, hot days. (Sophia Lother) * op-online.de, is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
