Free travel insurance for all vacationers: The Balearic government plans to cover the return travel costs in the event of a corona infection.

Finally enjoy the days off abroad again – for many people it is currently the greatest longing. The big catch: In times of the corona pandemic, this is anything but easy. But especially for Germany’s most popular Spanish island, there could now be the green light: In the event of a Covid infection, the Balearic government is planning to offer holidaymakers free return travel insurance of up to 15,000 euros.
Holidays in Mallorca 2021: Balearic government takes over travel insurance
According to information from the “Mallorca Zeitung”, the Spanish government will cover the return travel costs of all national and international holidaymakers should they become infected with Corona during their stay on Mallorca. Prerequisite: You have officially booked accommodation and stayed there.
The promising travel offer is made possible by a cooperation with the tourism agency of the Balearic Islands. But apart from Mallorca, there are other travel destinations * in 2021 that will make a holiday in Spain safe: The concept also applies accordingly to Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.
Mallorca vacationers get reimbursement of the return travel costs after Covid illness
The offer insures the reimbursement of costs for the return journey within 24 hours after surviving the corona illness and thus covers up to 15,000 euros per policyholder. The so-called “Safety Packs” also include a translation service in Spanish, German and English as well as a corresponding call center to clarify any questions that may arise.
Holidays in Mallorca: quarantine hotel, corona tests and beach app enable further security
In the event that corona symptoms occur while on vacation, the Balearic government also grants holiday guests access to a quarantine hotel. If the condition worsens, you will be placed in the nearest hospital – without extra foreign health insurance. For policyholders, this is also a free entitlement that arises from the new concept of the vacation island.
Just like cheap corona tests, an app should also contribute to general safety on the holiday island. With this app the Mallorca vacationer can see how busy the beaches are. Whether you want to go on vacation to Mallorca or elsewhere: The most important thing is that travelers do not ignore the Corona rules *, especially on vacation.
