Lewis Hamilton claimed the first pole of his career at Imola in a disappointing qualifying session for the Spanish drivers. Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso have been left out of Q3 and will face the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix from the back of the grid. After Max Verstappen took the first pole of the season, Hamilton has taken the second. The Mercedes driver finished the qualifying session for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix ahead of Sergio Pérez and Verstappen’s Red Bulls, who finished second and third respectively. Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz’s teammate at Ferrari, was fourth and will start ahead of Pierre Gasly, Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris at Imola, surprising the eighth position of a Valtteri Bottas who had set the best time in both FP1 as in Free 2. The other Mercedes driver will start ahead of Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso’s teammate, and Lance Stroll, who has closed the top-10. Sainz and Alonso will start from behind Carlos Sainz will be the main Spanish asset in the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna. The Madrid driver has made his debut in Italy as a Ferrari driver outside of Q3. He will start eleventh but, unlike the top ten, he will be able to modify his strategy for the race. Between Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, who has been fifteenth, George Russell, Sebastian Vettel and Nicholas Latifi have slipped. In a circuit where it is difficult to overtake, the Asturian’s options to score will go through making a great start.Behind the two-time champion will come another Formula 1 champion like Kimi Raikkonen, Antionio Giovinazzi, for his part, will come out ahead of Mick Schumacher, whose father continues to be the great dominator in the history of this track. Nikita Mazepin will start 19th and Yuki Tsunoda, who went against the wall in Q1, last. Despite starting from the rearmost part of the grid, the Japanese will be a rival for Fernando Alonso and could also be one for Carlos Sainz if he manages to catch up with him with his AlphaTauri. This is the grid 1. Lewis Hamilton (1.14.411) 2. Sergio Pérez 3. Max Verstappen 4. Charles Leclerc 5. Pierre Gasly 6. Daniel Ricciardo 7. Lando Norris 8. Valtteri Bottas 9. Esteban Ocon 10.
