What is the longest road in the world?

The longest running within a single country is Australia's Highway-1 . It is a set of connected roads and highways, of 14,523 km, that bypasses the national territory more or less along the coast, and passes through the main cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Darwin.

The first section, Brisbane-Adelaide, was built in 1955, and then it was extended until completing the return to the territory. More than a million people circulate through it every day , and in some sections they must sharpen their attention: between Adelaide and Perth there is a straight of 154 kilometers!

It is followed by the Trans-Siberian Highway, which for more than 11,000 km links Saint Petersburg, on the Baltic, with Vladivostok, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It runs entirely through Russian territory, except for a 190 km stretch through Kazakhstan.

The next national route is the Trans-Canada Highway, which forms the backbone of the North American country between the Pacific and the Atlantic, passing through the big cities . From the west, in Victoria, to Saint John it travels 8,030 km through the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland-Labrador.

Considering the highways that cross several countries, the Panamericana takes the cake: 25,800 km from Alaska to Patagonia, but is interrupted during a 90 km undeveloped stretch in Panama .
