Nothing less than 4,100 meters . It was made in 2014 by a group of seamstresses from Chengdu , the capital of Sichuan province, to honor the National Day of the People's Republic of China, which is celebrated on October 1.
The record is expected to be endorsed by Guinness World Records, as it far exceeds the model that held it until now: a 2,750 m bridal gown, made in 2013 by Romanian couturiers.
The kilometer-long Chinese dress is very light in design and made of single-layer chiffon fabric , which increased the difficulty of its manufacture, which lasted a whopping three months. It is 1.5 meters wide and has cost 40,000 yuan (€ 5,115).
The model was publicly unveiled on September 24, 2014 in the Ziyixiangxun Valley, forming a geometric pattern over the crop fields. Given its dimensions, it had to be deployed by turning around a few times.
Wedding dresses did not always have a train. This element began to be used in the 16th century as a sign of power and prestige ; thus, from its length and decorative profusion it was inferred that the bride's family belonged to one or another social scale.
