Yes, at least during childhood. A new study by the University of Missouri (USA) with 6,250 schoolchildren has revealed that children who are continuously obese from kindergarten through fifth grade of primary school have worse results in math and calculation tests than children and boys that grow with a normal weight.
The researchers, who publish their conclusions in the journal Child Development , assure that these same schoolchildren, in addition to problems in academic performance, manifest higher levels of sadness and anxiety, as well as poor social skills.
