Researchers from the University's International Center for Media and Public Agenda (ICMPA) have conducted interviews with 1,000 students from 12 centers around the world. The intention of the study was to verify the degree of dependence of young people on technology . The main conclusion of the study has been that the reaction of young people to the lack of technology is similar to that felt by drug addicts or smokers when they suddenly abandon consumption.
According to the newspaper The Telegraph about the study, most of the 1,000 participants in the test could not stop using their state-of-the-art devices for even one day. The students confirmed that they could not leave their phones, computers or consulting social networks.
The data from the study, which has focused on a profile of users aged 17 to 23, also shows that young people have described their feelings in practically the same words. In this way, the word 'anxiety', 'addict' or 'fear' have been present in most of the responses of the respondents. Experts have pointed out that the degree of dependency and its consequences have come as a surprise.
