After almost 450 days of uninterrupted use , Josh Le took a sample from his pants to check the level of accumulated bacteria . Subsequently, he washed the pants and, after wearing them for two weeks, rechecked the level of bacteria in the fabric. To their surprise, the number of bacteria in both cases was similar. The highest concentration was located in the pubic area, where between 8,500 and 10,000 microbes per square centimeter were counted. Something surprising because for a month Le even slept with his pants on and wiped the sweat from his hands on them. The student confessed that the biggest problem was the smell , especially from the seventh month, after a trip to California.
The University of Alberta professor of Human Ecology who supervised the experiment, Rachel McQueen, has commented that the results suggest that jeans only need to be washed once a month . However, McQueen cautioned that Le is a healthy person and that the results are the fruit of only one isolated experiment.
What is the origin of the pants?
Are there self-cleaning clothes?
