This is how the transformation of MICE tourism in Mexico has been experienced

The pandemic has marked a before and after for all industries in the world. Although the tourism sector has been gradually recovering, after the restriction of face-to-face activities and travel, it is evident that it is undergoing a transformation.

In this sense, the segment of meetings, incentives, congresses and exhibitions (MICE, for its acronym in English) is regaining strength as one of the drivers of the economy, where the United States is the leading destination in the Americas.

For its part, according to information from the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Mexico ranks 23rd worldwide and is fifth in Latin America in meeting tourism, a key fact to guarantee hotel occupancy in low seasons.

For Miguel Torruco Marqués, head of the Sectur, the country is highly competitive in this industry, thanks to its extensive infrastructure for holding congresses, incentive trips, conferences, conventions, meetings and exhibitions, as well as the excellent quality and warmth in the attention

A clear example of this is , a global firm that has expanded its range of personalized products and services to provide an improved experience for its visitors.

This revitalized approach is evident in its five-star resorts, located in the national destinations of Cancun and the Riviera Nayarit, in addition to remodeling the rooms for business events in the hotel in the Riviera Maya.

In this way, the convention center of the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa, on the beaches of Cancun, has five rooms for meetings and conferences, as well as five large halls and a ballroom of 995 square meters, with capacity for 890 attendees in auditorium style. All equipped with Wi-Fi, screens, video projectors and sound systems.

Its eight specialty restaurants have buffet or a la carte service, with menus of Mexican, Mediterranean, international, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Indian food and snacks, so they can become spaces for other events and private dinners.

In the same way, its 673 rooms are ready to receive travelers after work days, divided into these categories: 598 Junior Suite , eight Junior Suite Swim-up with direct access to a private pool, 54 Loft Suite and eight Ambassador Suite .

Also, the resort has exclusive services in its two Ambassador Swim-up Suites, two Signature Swim-up Suites and one Signature Residence, with capacity for up to six adults and equipped with a terrace and private Jacuzzi.

“We have raised our standards in all aspects, in order to maintain the excellence that characterizes us. Thanks to this, our hotels in the country, which are part of a network of 48 complexes in the American and European continents, are ideal environments for various types of business meetings,” said Linda González, corporate director of Sales in Mexico for Palladium. HotelGroup.

And he added that the starting point was the strategy put in place after the most critical stage of the pandemic, which included the implementation of security protocols to avoid contagion, by following the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS, for its French acronym) and local authorities.

As a result, thanks to the combination of state-of-the-art technological tools and human talent specialized in conferences and meetings, it is possible to hold these meetings in the group’s hotels.

At the same time, it was instituted that customers can check-in and check-out online , in addition to the fact that with their mobile application, web portal and the television screen they can access the menus and menus of the restaurants and pubs.

Undoubtedly, all this work translates into the global vision of Palladium Hotel Group for a renewed MICE segment:

  • Meetings with a different approach
  • Incentive trips that transport you to another world ( Incentives that will take you to another world)
  • Conferences that make a difference ( Conferences that could be different)
  • Surprising events ( Events that will take your breath away)
