For women, increasing the number of friends leads to more sex

A new study from Oakland University (USA) states that women who have a large number of male friends have more sex with their boyfriends compared to women who have many female friends. The work has been published in the Journal of Comparative Psychology .

The researchers reached this conclusion after analyzing the relationships of 393 men with an average of 3 years of relationship. The participants completed a questionnaire on the attractiveness of their partner, their friends, how attractive these friends or partners find their girlfriend or the number of times they had sexual intercourse in the last week.

The results showed that the more friends the woman had and the more the man believed that others were attracted to her, the more sexual relations she had had with her partner . Those friends or co-workers were also seen as sexual rivals and increased the likelihood of possible infidelity , according to the men. Thus, the fact of being surrounded by sexual rivals causes more frequency in men in sexual relations with their corresponding partners.

Male sperm is very competitive and this also carries over into the real world as a psychological desire to fight other men (just like sperm) in order to be first. It is this competitive drive that would explain why viewing pornography with two men and one woman is generally not to the liking of men: because they see others as close sexual rivals, even though they are neither rivals nor close. The man’s body kicks off its competitive drive and produces as much sperm as possible.

“This is human nature. We need to be reminded that our partner is valuable to us and desirable to others . This keeps us working on maintaining relationship satisfaction. Finding that right balance of jealousy induction in life. partner will optimize their sexual life, “says Michael Pham, leader of the study.
