What exactly is pansexuality? It is defined as a specific sexual orientation in which the sexual, romantic or sentimental attraction occurs towards other people without understanding or distinguishing between genders or specific sexual orientations . The term is a neologism built with the Greek prefix pan- , which means “everything” and the word sexuality.
Pansexuals, also called omnisexuals, are therefore attracted to both heterosexual, lesbian, gay men and women, as well as intersex, transsexual, intergender … Pansexuality is not comparable to bisexuality, but it would be a version more broad, free and elemental of love or attraction.
Pansexuality has its own flag , which was created to increase the visibility and recognition of this community. It is made up of three horizontal bands of pink, yellow and blue . Blue represents those who identify within the male spectrum (regardless of their biological sex), pink represents those who identify within the female spectrum (regardless of their biological sex), and the yellow band represents attraction towards non-genders. binary (that is, those not strictly identified with the words masculine or feminine) such as androgynous, transgender, or intersex.
The origin of this term is associated with the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, although with a different association than the current one . According to Freud, pansexuality was “the impregnation of all behavior and experience with sexual emotions.” Ultimately, everything is sex.
