Or what is the same, people, especially women, with a high socioeconomic level claim to have better sex. This has been revealed by researchers from the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB) after analyzing the National Survey of Sexual Health of Spain carried out in 2009.
To carry out the study, the researchers analyzed the data of 2,365 women and 2,532 men between 16 and 44 years old, residing in Spain in 2009 and sexually active. From a superficial observation it was found that 90% of the people were quite or very satisfied with their sexual life. However, analyzing more thoroughly all the data, the ASPB researchers have confirmed that socioeconomic factors affect people’s sexual satisfaction .
As the main author of the study explains to the scientific news agency SINC, Dolores Ruiz Muñoz, ” people of lower socioeconomic status declare they are less sexually satisfied , which is especially the case in the case of women, who seem to be more influenced by these factors ”.
In addition to their satisfaction and financial status, the scientists looked at relationship safety and sexual abuse. The data obtained showed that those who have less who have less purchasing power practice sex less safely and in a higher percentage suffer abuse in their sexual relations.
In the words of the researcher herself, “people who have a more disadvantaged socioeconomic position tend to have less satisfactory and less safe sexual relations, as well as to suffer more abusive sexual experiences . Likewise, women tend to have more abusive sexual experiences than men and they state that they had less sexual satisfaction during their first sexual relationship. “
The research has been published recently in the scientific journal Annals of Epidemiology .
