Changing app icons in iOS 14 (home screen)
There is no doubt that with the arrival of iOS 14, Apple itself allows users to customize, to the maximum, different aspects related to the organization of the home screen and the inclusion of new blocks of information, such as widgets. .
As far as application icons are concerned, now it also offers the possibility of customizing the appearance of the icons of any app with the inclusion of images . For example, we can use any images that we have stored in Photos. Of course, in order to do so, it is necessary to make sure that our iPhone is updated with the latest version of iOS 14.
To begin, we must open the Shortcuts app. Click on the + icon located in the upper right corner of said application, and on the New shortcut page that appears, click on Add action .
We will now find a search bar located at the top of Suggestions . We write Open application to find the action that opens an app. Now, in the Actions section, from the search results, we tap Open application .
Next, in the Scripts section of the new shortcut , click on the Choose button. We scroll through the list of available apps, and choose the one for which we want to create a custom shortcut.
Once chosen, we will return to the New shortcut section , and the name of the application will now be displayed in the Scripting section. We touch the three-point menu (located near the upper right corner), and touch Add to the home screen .
In the Name and icon section of the home screen , click on the X located to the right of the New shortcut , in order to delete this text and add a custom name for our new icon.
Next, we touch the shortcut icon and click on Choose photo . We browse through our photos and select the image that we like the most. Now, on the next screen, we can zoom in or out on the image until it reaches the size we want. Finally, we click Select and, finally, Add .
We will now see a brief confirmation that the shortcut has been added to the home screen. To finish, we close the Shortcuts app and check that the icon has been added and customized correctly.
