Lenovo makes the alarm clock smarter and Amazon continues with its Echo 'erre que erre'

Yes, Christmas is coming, and all brands are immersed in the traditional whirlwind of launching their best products. And in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and smart speakers, smart home assistants, too. If in 2018 Amazon sold one hundred million of this type of devices around the world, and announced a few days ago the arrival of four new devices -new version of Echo, Echo Studio, Echo Dot with clock and Echo Flex, to connect other equipment- Lenovo has not lagged behind and has taught what they define as ‘the smart alarm clock’.

For now, and until the new generation of assistants arrives, the really smart ones who learn from the user, who are able to take the context into account, and predict what we want, we have to settle for the ones that are used now. to buy, ask about the weather, tell us how to get to a destination or even to ask them to tell us a joke. Yes, a joke. And Amazon says that so far this year Alexa, the voice of its assistants, has told – I think in Spain – five million jokes. And the time? Well, Amazon says that since customers have asked their little Echo Dot the time a whopping more than a billion times, that is one of the reasons why they now launch the new Dot with a built-in clock, and for only 69 euros.

But it is that Lenovo has now given a greater turn of the screw, and has designed a Smart clock, with Google Assistant. The Chinese manufacturer is very active in launching more and more smart gadgets on the market. In the new ‘smart’ watch you can choose between hundreds of sounds and multimedia alarms to wake up, and if you want to sleep for ten more minutes, you just have to touch the clock screen. You can also check the weather, calendar, traffic information or the news on the screen.

With the command “Good night” you can do several tasks: turn off the lights, close the doors or put on relaxing music. And you can also view alarm suggestions and configure them by voice or on the touch screen. And also, and it seems to me a very useful idea, the smartphone can be charged since the new Lenovo device has a USB port located on the back.

Another feature of the Lenovo smart alarm clock is that you can use your voice to control other smart home devices and access them from a single control panel: turn on the lights, connect the coffee maker, open the front door, or throw a look at the security camera before we go to sleep. And it is also compatible with products from different brands.

Lenovo Smart Clock also plays music, radio, and other content, and with the multi-room function you can add a group of speakers and play content on multiple devices and rooms at the same time. The watch also works with Chromecast, to send shows, movies or music to the TV.

The price? 89.99 euros. Although we do not know if we can say “I love you” or even ask him in marriage, something that has been done, more than 10,000 times, by users of Echo devices to Amazon’s Alexa.
