Sherpa.ai, the only Spanish among the 100 most innovative in AI

“Without data, you are just another person expressing your opinions.” “If you don’t have data, don’t make decisions.” The first sentence is from CB Insights, an intelligent platform that helps companies make decisions by analyzing huge amounts of data through algorithms and machine learning tools. The second is from an executive of a multinational in the telecommunications sector, specifically Chema Alonso, Chief Data Officer of Telefónica. And why do I refer to these two phrases when the headline of this article starts with a subject like Sherpa.ai?

Very simple. CB Insights, among other things, analyzes every year with its artificial intelligence (AI) tools who are the one hundred startups in the world that stand out the most for their developments in this field. And in his latest study, only one Spanish woman was among the privileged. And yes, that company is Sherpa.ai, as it is now called when rebrand (I do not know if this word exists in Spanish) to update its brand and give it greater potential by incorporating the acronym AI, which in English betrays Artificial Intelligence, And of course it has much more commercial history.

The task that its founder and CEO Xabi Uribe-Etxebarría has undertaken, that of renewing its brand in recent months, also has a very defined and clear objective: “to have a better product”. Xabi expresses how she has spent the last six months traveling around the world, talking to companies of all kinds, and also seeing other companies like her that have worse technology, but a better product and therefore more success. And his idea was to work on developing a better product with his best AI technology to offer both to business consumers and to private customers.

In the last AI Book that CB Insights published, it defined Sherpa, as it was called until a few days ago, as “a multilingual voice-enabled personal assistant designed for smartphones, cars and digital devices. The company’s predictive technology uniquely combines advanced artificial intelligence algorithms in a personal assistant with a unique design and user experience. ” A few months after this statement, Xabi Uribe himself was in charge of presenting those new products that now intend to compete with others that, as he says, have worse technology.

The first of the new products is the Sherpa.ai Conversational OS platform, which enables the integration of Sherpa’s AI-based digital assistant technology and Machine Learning into any device, from speakers to televisions to household appliances. “This new platform ”, Says Xabi,“ it will have many different domains that represent diverse areas of knowledge and specific content, which will allow to bring AI and intelligent voice assistants to all types of products and sectors, creating a perfect user experience ”.

The second of the products announced by the new Sherpa.ai is Predictive and Recommending Engine, a technology that will make it easier for an intelligent assistant to anticipate the needs of its users. Thus, you will be able to select the news that you should know, or the emails that you would have to answer, for example. Or turn on the heating to the temperature that the user likes, or play content of interest on the TV, and even heat up your dinner just because the assistant will know you are coming home.

“In short, an assistant that, without having to ask, anticipates the needs, and that differentiates it from the rest of its competitors in the market thanks to the fact that it analyzes around 100,000 parameters of each user to be able to predict their patterns and define them in advance. what are their habits ”, says Xabi Uribe-Etxebarría.

Also the founder and CEO of Sherpa.AI announced upcoming innovations for products intended for the final consumer, such as the update of the Sherpa Assistant app, which is now available for free for smartphones with Android operating system, and soon for smartphones. users who have an iPhone.

Before moving on to next year, in which Xabi points out that there will be more and important news, such as relevant agreements with a multinational company in the field of technology, he expresses that he would like to have worked with Telefónica in the field of AI. “We have told them that everything they are doing in artificial intelligence now we did it four years ago, and that we put at their disposal the years of advance that we have been in this field.”
