Every weekend, in a Formula 1 (F1) race, a team like McLaren manages around 100 GB of data in its two cars. If we multiply by the 21 races that are held on the calendar, the amount of data rises to 2.1 TB. But if we multiply this volume of information by the 10 teams in the top speed category, we can say that each season the F1 circus handles an average of 21 TB of data in real time in each campaign.
We even went to Woking, the mythical McLaren factory, to be told about the agreement between OnePlus and the British team. And there they also told how between Friday and Sunday the cars of Fernando Alonso and Vadoorme in the 2018 season sent a relevant sum of data that was processed in the cloud in real time from Woking itself, with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and analysis of patterns to be able to decide live and direct the orders for each car.
Here, in this context, the CEO of McLaren Racing himself, Zak Brown, revealed a harmony of two companies that have the same objective, to go faster and faster towards the achievement of their objectives, having as allies the latest in innovation and technology. And to begin with they showed the first joint product, the McLaren OnePlus 6T Edition.
I am not going to repeat the qualities of the OnePlus 6T, which we already analyzed in this blog weeks ago, highlighting among others the biometric authentication with fingerprint from the screen itself. OnePlus was the second manufacturer to launch this functionality, after having relocated some internal elements of the device to be able to accommodate it. Especially noteworthy is the fast unlocking of the smartphone thanks to the fact that the fingerprint sensor is on the screen itself. Only the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro have it. Not even the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max, nor the latest Samsung flagship terminals have it.
But the special edition of the OnePlus 6T with McLaren should also be noted, what users who purchase it will appreciate, the new Warp Charge 30 technology, the new charging standard of OnePlus. Warp Charge 30 takes fast charging to new standards in the industry, offering the battery needed for a day in just 20 minutes, thus avoiding the wait while charging. Thanks to the new integrated circuits in both the charger and the smartphone, as well as a tight power management system, the mobile reaches a power of 30 watts without slowing down, even when the device is being used or generating heat excessive. The Warp Charge 30 power unit includes a braided cable in Papaya Orange color.
McLaren’s signature color, Papaya Orange , runs around the bottom edge of the device before fading into black. And underneath the glass back of the phone is McLaren’s innovative carbon fiber, the technology that has been at the heart of all McLaren cars since 1981.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren also has 10 GB of RAM, a power that allows multitasking whether in high-end games, in 4K recordings at 60 frames per second, editing photos in motion, or quickly changing applications.
The device is accompanied by a book with the history of both companies. In addition, with the new OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, users will be able to enjoy, in the book, exclusive software animations with the history of McLaren. The smartphone that the Chinese firm has produced with McLaren is available in Europe and North America from December 13 for 699 euros.
