Planet X exists. That unknown, hypothetical planet hidden in the outer reaches of the solar system could be a reality. Two scientists from the Caltech Institute (USA), Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown have found evidence of the existence of a giant planet in this deep and unexplored region of the solar system.
With a mass 10 times that of the Earth and orbiting about 20 times farther from the Sun than from our planet, which would take 10,000 to 20,000 years to make a complete revolution around the star, an object is found that Until now it had passed us unnoticed; a planet that would lead to the rewriting of school textbooks and astronomy books … once again.
How was this planet discovered?
The planet X in question has not been observed directly, but has been identified thanks to a computer of mathematical simulations and modeling from the orbits of both dwarf planets and other extreme objects of our solar system that had been discovered in recent times.
There is no question about whether it is a planet as such. It is large enough that there is no discussion. In fact, the expulsion of Pluto as an “official” planet, the current dwarf planet, was initiated by Mike Brown (@plutokiller) and -if confirmed-, it would be him again who would include this “Planet Nine” as a new member of the worlds. of our solar system.
The study has been published in The Astronomical Journal.
