Luis Enrique: "Sergio Ramos has not been able to compete in the right conditions" | Call for Euro 2021

Luis Enrique appeared before the media after announcing the list of the Spanish team called up for the Eurocup that will be held from June 11. The national team is in group E along with Sweden, Poland and Slovakia. These three games will be played at La Cartuja in Seville. Before starting the press conference, the coach wanted to remember Arnau, sadly deceased: “I would like to start the event by talking about Arnau, who sadly has passed away and has been my teammate.” He then started talking about the list. “Most of the teams have decided to bring 26 players, but we only have one more because we consider it more opportune. In this case it has been a striker, it is the right thing to do so that all those called up train knowing that they can help the team. Usually 18-19 players are used, so in our case there will only be one in the stands. I also consider training with a smaller number of footballers, “he explained.” It has been a list like the previous ones, easy and difficult to do. It is based on our criteria. I would like to make a special mention of Sergio Ramos, who I have decided not to come because he has not been able to compete in the right conditions. It has not been easy. Yesterday I was able to comment on it. It was difficult, hard and it tastes bad to me, but I see that it is a complicated decision in which I seek the benefit of the team. I recommended that he be selfish, think about himself and regain his level to continue playing for his club, “he added. “I would also like to mention the players who have helped us and have not been able to be there. Sorry, there is no room for everyone, “he concluded. Laporte” Your call has nothing to do with Sergio Ramos. We have contemplated its presence since we knew it was feasible. He is a top player who can help us a lot. I would like you not to associate the call of one player with the loss of others. I wish you were here. It could be recovered in these weeks of competition, but, although it is possible, I see it not very feasible. ”Conversation with Sergio Ramos“ It was a decision that we have thought about a lot. I met him in the game against Sevilla. I keep yesterday’s conversation private. It is a normal conversation. I have to stick to what I consider best for the national team. I have to base myself on general principles based on what I consider. She was very polite and correct. ”Possible Ramos Olympic Juices“ The Games are not my competence. ”Nacho Fernández“ Surely she has been at the level. There are several players that could be, but 24 I want to carry. There are three or four footballers who could be on the list. “Media noise” I think I have repeated it in the different calls. Any decision he made would generate controversy. I know where I am and what it means to be at the highest level. I hope and wish that it does not affect the national team. ”Sarabia“ It may be a surprise even for him. In the two previous calls we wanted to call him, but he was injured. He has a lot of competition in his club. He can bring us arrival, he has a goal, the ability to make the last pass and he is a very interesting player ”. Right side“ It is the position that we have had the most problems. We brought Cesar because we knew him very well. There is also a center-back who can play on the right back in emergency situations and Marcos, even though he plays as a winger, we don’t want to forget what he can contribute to us in attack. I like having players who can play in different positions ”.No Real Madrid player “It is possible because two of the players who had participated this season would be in the squad like Ramos and Carvajal. I regret that these two Real Madrid players are not here. ”Site for Ramos“ It was explicit enough. I have made this decision and that is what I am trying to do. ”Iñigo Martínez“ The case of Iñigo Martínez, after this press conference, a statement will be issued and it will be quite clear. ”Behavior“ No one has been left out because of the behavior. We look at all the details, but the behavior of all those who have come has been excellent “. Goalkeepers” I had everything clear that you can have. We are focused on performance. It is a special position. I have confidence in these three. Kepa has not played as much as we wanted. These three give me confidence. ”March concentration“ It had nothing to do with it. He came from not playing for Madrid, he played the first half against Greece and then got injured after Kosovo. What has been decisive has been his career with Real Madrid since March. ”Options from Spain“ I have never prevented that we can win. We are in that group. I don’t see myself as inferior or superior to anyone. Hopefully we can choose everything. ”Courage“ If there is something that characterizes this team, it is that they have always done the same thing, attack in the same way. That is one of the conditions that I set and that I marked for myself. I am very proud. We’re not going to die of fear. ”Desired list“ This is not the list I wanted because there are players who cannot be there due to injury. ”Wait for Sergio“ No. Up to 48 hours before the first game we can incorporate any player due to injury to those of us who have or due to any coronavirus problem “. New leader” If we define ourselves by something, it is by being a team.Everyone has to contribute. There are 12 players under the age of 25. The selection is quite balanced. The atmosphere that we can generate on the days that we are going to be focused will be very important. ”Role of Gerard Moreno“ The role that he has been playing throughout the season at his club and that he continues to do the same. Give us solutions in the offensive aspect. We must prioritize the objective of the team individually. ”Jesús Navas“ He could be on the list and he has done well. ”Spectators“ It is a great joy to be able to play in Spain and especially in Seville. Let’s hope they support us, that they are up to the task and we can dedicate victories to them. ”Defense“ I have it very clear, but it will depend on the rival and what they see in training. For me, more important than drawing is what they have to do. “Adama’s physical condition” It’s fine. We will confirm as soon as the doctors can do the pertinent tests. “Physical condition” It’s a hot topic at the end of the season. The important thing is to arrive head fresh. You have to create the atmosphere and the necessary climate so that the players get bored as little as possible. ”Explanations for absences“ I have not called any other player to explain why he is not coming. I considered it appropriate to do it with Ramos because of what it means.
