The beaches of Palawan (Philippines) are one of the most visited by tourists due to their great beauty. However, they are now completely deserted – human at least – due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has allowed nature to flourish along their shores. With quite an unexpected result.
Not feeling threatened in their natural habitat, thousands of pink jellyfish have begun to surface. Thus, adrift, thousands of bright pink jellyfish can be seen taking over the ocean around the island of Palawan in the Philippines.
The massive jellyfish bloom was captured on video by researcher and co-founder of the Jellyfish Stings Project in the Philippines, Sheldon Rey Boco. These colorful jellyfish are believed to belong to a species known as C rambione mastigophore.
These types of events are affected by a series of environmental factors, but none of them are related to COVID-19, what is a fact is that the absence of bathers due to the coronavirus has caused them to surface. Scientists are still studying how such a massive jellyfish "invasion" is possible so suddenly.
Again nature breaks through thanks to the confinement of humanity.
