"The alley of lost souls", the return of Guillermo del Toro to theaters

If we had to mention a director with an overflowing imagination and capacity, that would undoubtedly be the Mexican Guillermo del Toro. Within his cinema highlights the passion and love for strange creatures. Hellboy, The Faun, the creature from The Shape of Water are just a few of their particular circus of monsters, often as or more human than the purely evil villains who haunt them. Loved by audiences thanks to productions such as Pacific Rim and awarded by critics thanks to the two Oscars for La joven del agua (best director and best film), the filmmaker is choosing his projects with more and more care, without any haste or intention to to be year after year in the forefront of the industry. The latest project to hit theaters is called The Alley of Lost Souls and it’s full of international stars who are sure to point to the next awards season: Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchet, Ron Perlman, Rooney Mara, Willem Dafoe , Paul Anderson, Richard Jenkins and Tony Collette are some of the figures who participate in this noir story based on the novel by William Lindsay Greham. In it, the protagonist is an ambitious young man played by Cooper, who possesses a lip and natural ability to manipulate people. Stan is the name of this protagonist who ends up allying with the psychiatrist Lilith Ritter in the middle of a setting of the American show business of the 40s, where charlatans, femmes fatales and con artists are the order of the day. del Toro Unlike most of the films in his filmography, The Alley of the Lost Souls will not have supernatural elements or creatures, but that will not prevent it from having the darkness that characterizes the Mexican director.Del Toro, in an interview with Collider explained that Greham’s book has given him the first opportunity to make a film with the most vulnerable part of society. When asked about the rating of the film, Del Toro seems to have it clear: ” It will be an R. Double R! ”.
