Home confinement, experienced last year, was the necessary spark for online commerce to surpass the traditional one. Months later, businesses can open their doors, with more or less capacity restrictions, but e-commerce is here to stay. Last mile parcel delivery and delivery has become, in a matter of five years, one of the burning challenges of urban mobility. Fortunately, Citroën has the solution for smaller urbanites, restaurants and shops: the Ami Cargo . This electric quadricycle , derived from the model presented at the end of 2019, offers a useful volume of more than 400 liters and a load of 140 kilograms .
To achieve this cargo space, the passenger area has been used, giving up the passenger seat to keep production costs at bay. In this way, the Ami Cargo can be put on sale from 7,600 euros in cash or 19.99 euros of monthly fee depending on the contract for 36 or 48 months. Therefore, we are facing the same vehicle of only 2.41 meters long by 1.39 m wide and 1.52 m high .
Next to the town
In the case of the Ami Cargo, we must take into account the cargo space, key for companies that transport compact-size packages through urban centers . An ingenious response from the chevron firm, it tends to be on the side of the people and those customers who cannot afford high luxuries in the transition to electrification. All this without giving up a carefree and ingenious style, which manages to capture the attention of all types of driver and that will move like a fish in water thanks to its 7.2 meter turning radius .
If the Ami One brought mobility to young people, and not so young, without a driver’s license, the Ami Cargo will do the same with the transport of material goods. It maintains the same propulsion system, consisting of a 6 kW motor that does not exceed 45 km / h and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers 75 kilometers of autonomy . The best thing about this low cost technology is the charging time, which allows the Ami Cargo to be charged in a matter of 3 hours from a 220 V household socket .
Loading Zone
The My Ami Cargo treats the interior space in an excellent way, enabling a space of up to 260 liters of capacity. To do this, they use a vertical separation screen that divides the cargo area from that of the driver , a necessary limitation to protect the pilot against possible movements during traffic and that does not limit their 360-degree vision.
The upper tray, which would be the typical dashboard of a city car, can also be used as a transport area. This space holds up to a weight of 40 kilograms , so we can use it as a mobile office to leave our digital tablet, delivery notes and other small objects.
The distance between the back of the space and the front is 1.20 meters, so they could not be longer items or boxes . The passenger area can, in turn, be divided by a tablet 845 millimeters long by 410 mm wide. The base of the rear area is 992 millimeters long by 318 millimeters wide.
