A few weeks ago we were talking about the rebirth of the Lada Niva, a model that will be marketed again by the Renault Group. This indestructible off-road vehicle took, along with the R5 prototype, all the prominence of the announcement of the Renaulution Plan . However, this new strategy presented by Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, not only concerns the design of new models, but also their manufacture and industrialization. In that sense, Meo’s already dropped that Spanish factories would not suffer the cuts provided for savings. This confidence has been demonstrated after the publication of the industrial plan 2021-2024 of the Renaulution Spain, which pays special attention to the Spanish plants of the automobile conglomerate. Furthermore, the concessions received by Valladolid, Palencia and Seville will amount to more than 12 billion euros and about 1 000 permanent contracts will be formalized for this period.
They are being very difficult months and Spain, along with other southern European countries, is experiencing a delicate situation due to the pandemic and the confinements. The country’s economy should be reinforced with announcements such as those made at the Palencia Factory. During the day, His Majesty King Felipe VI and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez , shook hands with Jean Dominique Senard , president of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance; Luca de Meo, CEO of Grupo Renault , and José Vicente de los Mozos, industrial director of Grupo Renault and CEO of Renault Spain. That gesture, which is far from being just that, will mean a significant monetary kick for the affected plants and their surroundings.

Landing the plan explained by Luca de Meo, the Renault group has awarded three new models to the Palencia Factory and they will arrive between the years 2022, 2023 and 2024 . All of them will be from the SUV segment and between sizes C and D , those that represent a better economic margin for the firm. In addition, the Valladolid Bodywork and Assembly Factory will be in charge of assembling another two vehicles, B SUV and B + SUV, starting in 2024. All these novelties will be hybrids, which will introduce the plants to the new era of mobility. electrified and will ensure its relevance to the group for years to come.
The components industry is also vital for the automobile industry and, in that case, the Valladolid Motor Factory will receive the order to produce a new family of blocks. Seville, for its part, is left with the creation of two new transmission boxes for 2022 and 2024 . Not forgetting the Valladolid R + D + i Center , which takes on various responsibilities for new products. In other words, we will not only be in charge of setting up, but also of devising and being the architects of the transformation and electrification by Renault , with projects such as the introduction of hydrogen.
This recognition will serve to boost the Spanish economy, at the same time that it will position us as a competitive and ambitious country in the environmental aspect of the automotive industry. With this bet, Renault will formalize about 1 000 permanent contracts in Spain, maintaining its importance in the Spanish GDP, of which it is responsible for 1.5% and 5% of national exports.
