Beauty is subjective to some degree. The eyes that look tell their own stories, with tastes as diverse as they are exotic. However, the pure lines and the magic of the futuristic sketches, are able to put to it are sighs of admiration and grace. The same happened at the end of January with the DS Aero Sport Lounge, which won the “ Grand Prix du Plus Beau Concept Car 2021 ” award during the International Automobile Festival. This award recognizes the unique and brilliant design of a concept car treated as if it were a piece of haute couture, something that also characterizes the production models of the French firm.
The 36th edition of the festival could not be held, as usual, under the umbrella of the Formula E Paris E-Prix. The event had to take place entirely in digital format, leaving the idyllic setting of the “invalides” of the French capital for next year. Of the prizes awarded, the DS Aero Sport Lounge won the most attractive in sight, that of the most beautiful concept car of 2021 . The reasons of the jury are obvious and it is that the innovative air of this prototype has conquered everyone who has come across it. For the premium firm of the PSA group, he certifies the path taken when talking about savoir-faire, a method of understanding aesthetics but also the almost artisanal production of its vehicles.
The DS Aero Sport Lounge
The DS Aero Sport Lounge concept car had one main goal: aerodynamics. Its extremely long and low silhouette plays with the flow of air at will to make it a desirable and cutting-edge car. The huge 23-inch wheels contrast in a profile sculpted on paper and made real using state-of-the-art technologies.
An example of this is its electric propulsion, drawn from the experience of the firm in Formula E where it has accumulated titles from its early days. The Aero Sport Lounge is powered by a 500 kW (680 hp) powerplant with a range of more than 650 kilometers , data that has been put to the test during open road tests. The techniques used to create its interior, a sustainable space and recycled materials, do not go unnoticed either.
Designed to circulate
DS is aware of the futuristic image of the DS Aero Sport Lounge but it is not an impractical concept car, rather a prototype close to production . Its interior, however, would undergo some changes before reaching our roads. The completely clean cabin renounces any type of button and screens have no place in his idea of an infotainment system. The necessary information is projected in front of the passengers thanks to the sheets, made of straw marquetry, present on the surface of the dashboard.
As we explain in this article, the armrest or central tunnel incorporates a camera with sensors capable of reading and interpreting the movements of the passengers. In this way, the DS Aero Sport Lounge will carry out the requested orders.
