The SUV trend has reached all kinds of segments, with models competing directly against compact and even utility vehicles. However, the SUV phenomenon started out being more coherent and rational. They emerged as a more comfortable alternative with better dynamic capabilities than traditional SUVs, also improving their design. The 2020 Kia Sorento is the best example to talk about that transition. A few days ago the fourth generation of this large crossover was presented, which has seven seats in all its versions. For those adventurous but above all traveling families, the Sorento is an option to consider. The 2020 Kia Sorento is also available with a conventional hybrid system from € 43,165. This variant uses a 179 hp gasoline engine that, together with a 60 hp electric motor, offers a combined power of 230 hp and combined consumption of 6.7 l / 100 km according to the WLTP cycle.
In 2021 the plug-in hybrid variant will arrive , which will use a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, turbocharged, with 179 hp. This engine will work together, but also independently, with an electric 91 hp and 304 Nm of torque (265 hp of joint power). It will be powered by a 13.8 kWh battery and will be capable of driving 40 kilometers in 100% electric mode . For now, only the engines that we mentioned at the beginning will be available.
This huge SUV was clearly focused on the comfort of its passengers, penalizing its dynamic part and agility in cornering sections. The manufacturer has worked hard to improve that aspect. They have created a car capable of traveling at high speeds comfortably and with a remarkable level of soundproofing, but it is not as lazy as before .
