In Spain, the new Toyota Yaris will only be marketed in its 116 hp self-charging hybrid variant. Many of us are looking forward to the arrival of a high-performance version called the GR Yaris , with 261 hp of power and a number of modifications that dampen the dreams of many fans. Later, for 2021, it will be the turn of the crossover variant called Yaris Cross . For now, Toyota dealers will sport the fourth generation of the most efficient and environmentally responsible compact, with a starting price of € 18,650. The difference with respect to the cost of the previous combustion model is minimal and, in this way, the firm marks the definitive leap to electric mobility in its entire range of small passenger cars.
The first generation Toyota Yaris was introduced in 1999 and, that same year, it won the award for Best Car of the Year in Europe (COTY) for its versatility and habitability. Since then, and more than 20 years have passed, the Yaris has been a fixture in the utility lists, becoming the best-selling model on the continent with 22% of Toyota registrations and 224,000 units registered in 2019. Japanese firm is committed to a segment B stronger than ever, since the anti-pollution protocols of European cities will force the purchase of a new vehicle. Families must resort to alternatives that comply with the regulations, are inexpensive and versatile , capable of traveling through Spanish cities but also taking the odd interurban route. At that last point, the latest generation of Toyota Yaris comes into play, with better dynamic performance thanks to the new TNGA (Toyota Global Architecture) architecture .
The new Yaris incorporates the most advanced version of the signature electric hybrid system, which contains fuel consumption and emissions on longer and faster journeys. In addition, the Japanese firm has raised the bar in terms of technology and driving aids and safety with the introduction of the Toyota Safety Sense , which makes it the safest utility vehicle in the world.
