12 hybrids to visit the Jerte Valley

With the arrival of spring comes the desire to see nature in full splendor. The land comes back to life in a matter of weeks, leaving behind frost and valleys bare of vegetation. The Jerte Valley (in eastern Spain) becomes a magical place with the passage of this season, at which time the cherry trees open their flowers in the first sunny days. The flowering of this tree does not have a specific date, even less when we have lived one of the warmest winters in recent times. At that precise moment, the entire region is offered to the Cherry Blossom Festival , a tribute to this spectacle for the eyes that takes place in the different towns of the Jerte Valley. An ideal time to escape from our routine and head to a place with a life of its own.

The culture, gastronomy and tradition of the area will be the perfect excuse to visit its wineries, forges or presses. Premises that are shown as they were 50 years ago, transporting us to times of organic products and “real” organic food. All this without forgetting the more than a million and a half cherry blossoms, a process that goes from the lower altitude areas to the highest and coldest area of the valley. The Valle del Jerte Tourist Office recommends a circular car route, which crosses the towns of Rebollar, El Torno, Casas del Castañar, Cabrero, Barrado, Piornal and Valdastillas. A total of fifty kilometers that you can visit at any time of the year but that, in this 2020, we especially recommend you.

To enjoy cherry blossoms it is necessary to know that nature has its own times. In 2019, flowering was brought forward to the middle of March, due to the mild temperatures of that same winter. 2020 is being an exceptionally warm year, so we recommend that you be very attentive and devise an unforgettable route through its landscapes. For this we recommend these 12 cars, all of them hybrids and ready to tour their villages. The Cherry Blossom Festival will start on March 27 in Jerte and will end in Valdastillas on April 4.
