Singer Rina Sawayama to appear on "John Wick 4"

Many singers end up turning to acting sporadically (or permanently) to explore new paths in the entertainment industry. This time it was the turn of the British-Japanese model and singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama, who was praised a year ago for her album Rina, a series of songs that media such as The Guardian consider “modern and risky” in a kind of new pop. The information of this signing (provided by Deadline) does not suggest at any time if it will be a brief cameo or a relevant supporting role, since Rina Sawayama’s experience in the world of interpretation is reduced in her performance in two episodes of the Netflix series starring Idris Elba, Turn Up Charlie. Chad Stahelski, the director of all the installments of the John Wick franchise, was happy with Rina’s participation: “I’m very happy to have Rina on board to make her film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4 (…) It’s a incredible talent that will bring a lot to the film. ”Apart from this signing and the return of Keanu Reeves as the unbeatable protagonist, not much more is known about this new installment. What we do know is that the saga begins to mold itself towards the franchise, since in addition to the fourth, we will have John Wick: Chapter 5, which in principle was going to be shot consecutively with this last film, but the pandemic affected filming times and conditions. In addition to this new installment, there are plans to make a series around the Continental, the hotel that appears in the movie areas and is a neutral zone for this world of murderers. Like any good saga worth its salt, the world of John Wick is preparing a spin off called Ballerina. The script for this latest installment of the unstoppable murderer will be written by Michael Finch, who has already been in charge of scripts such as American Assassin and Predators. When can we see it? Well, in principle it was planned for this same month of May, but Reeves’ commitments with the return of the Matrix have radically delayed the date, which is expected for May 27, 2022.
