The Social Protection program for the Elderly (Greater Colombia) is an initiative that seeks to increase the protection of the elderly through the delivery of an economic subsidy for those who are homeless , who do not have a pension, or live in extreme poverty.

According to the entity, $ 80,000 of the transfer corresponds to the ordinary amount and the additional $ 80,000 is an extraordinary amount that was approved until June 2021 to mitigate the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How to claim the money?

If the payment is made through third parties , the following documentation must be presented at one of the payment points.

• Payment authorization signed by the beneficiary of the subsidy.
• Original of the citizenship card of the beneficiary of the subsidy.
• Original of the citizenship card of the authorized third party.

Who can be beneficiaries of Colombia Mayor?

According to Prosperidad Social, Colombians who have resided in the national territory for the last ten years and lack sufficient income or income to survive can be part of the program. Women must be at least 51 years old and men, 56 .

In addition, all levels of groups A, B and C up to subgroup C1 in Sisbén IV will be taken into account.

How can you sign up?

In case of meeting all the requirements, the older adult must approach the mayor’s office of his municipality with his physical citizenship card.

“The prioritization lists are essential because each municipality has an established quota for the program; to the extent that quotas are released, the potential beneficiaries follow in strict order of entry, ”says the entity.

The latter is done according to criteria such as the applicant’s age, the result of the Sisbén established for admission to the program ( the census list, in the case of indigenous peoples ), the handicap or physical or mental disability of the applicant, the persons in charge of the applicant, if it is an older adult who lives alone, the date of application for registration and if there was a transfer to another municipality.

It will also be observed if there was a loss of the pension contribution subsidy by reaching the age of 65 and not having the economic capacity to continue making contributions to said system.

“In this event, the beneficiary must inform that with this subsidy they will make the pension contribution in order to meet the requirements. This criterion will be used when the beneficiary needs a maximum of 100 weeks of contributions ”, says Prosperidad Social.

If after the information crossings it is evidenced that the applicant does not meet any of the entry requirements, the mayor’s office will be notified to carry out the verification in the territory.
