The best beer gardens in Dresden

The frost is barely out of the air before the Germans head for the beer garden . Perfect for beers all summer long, Dresden’s Beer Gardens offer the ideal perk for enjoying the city’s parks, riverside, and royal Baroque architecture (as well as some off-the-beaten-path attractions).

In addition to spectacular views, the beer gardens are a gateway to everyday German life. Drink in the best biergartens in Dresden and mark it as a cultural experience.

Drinks at the Dresden Biergartens

Biergartens often join regional breweries and offer the opportunity to sample local beer. A German pilsner or hefeweizen is always a solid choice, or go with a regional specialty like the unfiltered Zwickelbier .

The beers come in quantities of .3, .5, and even liters. As the cost of living in Dresden is quite low, expect to pay bargain prices of between 2.50 and 3.50 euros for a half liter of beer.

If you prefer wine or brandy , there are usually a few basic offerings. Children and non – drinkers can participate in the culture of the kindergarten with sparkling water, juice or soda.

Food in Dresden Biergartens

Food is an outdated idea in many beer gardens, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth the nibble. Order a b retzel (pretzel) for just € 1, or try biergarten classics like schnitzel, currywurst, frites (fries) or bratwurst with senf (mustard). A good meal in a Dresden beer garden usually costs less than € 10!

Biergarten season in Dresden

The gardens are traditionally open in the summer months, from mid-June to early October. Weather permitting, the Biergarten season can drag on or extend. Look for special events throughout the year, as well as openings during the Christmas market season.
