The first times of your baby, those special moments that remain in the heart

Living is a wonderful thing, full of experiences that enrich our lives, and there is certainly some magic in the first few times . The first time we felt the waves of the sea on our feet, our first kiss, the first time we tried that delicious food that later became one of our favorites.

All these moments are very special, but as we grow older they are less and less common or frequent. This is, of course, until we have children, because our life is completely transformed, filling with new experiences.

For this reason, today I want to write a special reflection on the first times of our babies , those special moments that are kept forever in our hearts.

The first few times in pregnancy

Although when we talk about “the first times” of the baby, the first thing that comes to mind is usually things like his first smile or his first steps, the truth is that from pregnancy we begin to experience and live them .

We have, for example, the first ultrasound, that emotional moment in which we can finally have an image of our baby and that in addition to giving us a first look, confirms that everything is happening as it should in our pregnancy.

At this stage we also have that magical moment when you begin to feel your baby move in your belly : the first kicks, which are undoubtedly one of the most special and exciting sensations of pregnancy.

Your baby’s first times

And after a long wait, your baby has been born and after the sound of his first cry during labor and that magical moment when you see him for the first time, he begins a series of first times that you will enjoy over the years.

His first look, which is accompanied by the first time you take him in your arms , is an indescribable moment full of many emotions, in which you finally see each other face to face and a very special bond begins to form between you.

After these first encounters, your life will be filled with memorable moments that the two of you will experience together for the first time , and that that capacity for wonder and that perseverance that young children have makes even more special.

The first time they smile, their first babbling, their first laugh when they see something that they found funny, their first words, their first times trying new foods and their first steps are some of the most memorable moments we experience when they are little.

Likewise, we also have to live the first times in relation to ourselves , such as the first time they smile at us, the first time they call us by name (I mean “mom” or “dad”, of course), their first hugs and undoubtedly the first kisses they give us.

But do not think that only when they are babies can we enjoy those moments that fill our hearts with love. As our children grow, we will continue to experience the first times of many important milestones in their lives : their first day of school, the fall of their first baby tooth, their first drawing, and the first time they rode a bike without the help of the training wheels. .

If we go a little further and looking to the future, we can see that although they may not be as frequent, we will continue to experience some first times, such as the first day of university or the first time we hold our grandchild in our arms. Because being parents is a permanent experience, which fills us with the first times that remain forever in our memory.

The FOMO effect (Fear Of Missing Out) is defined as "the fear of missing something". And although it is a concept that has become relevant in recent years, it is nothing new. In the late 1990s, Dr. Dan Herman coined this term.

We live surrounded by technology and it is inevitable that this will be incorporated as one more tool in parenting. In addition to apps that help with things ranging from designing your baby's room to managing the calendar of children with separated parents, devices such as tablets, mobile phones or smart speakers are here to stay. Proof of this is the growing use of Alexa as a timer that children obey without question (or at least without protesting as much as their mother).

When they enter the stage of adolescence, there are many boys and girls who can become dramatic in situations that, for parents, do not have the same degree of importance. Thus, in day-to-day situations, they feel that the world is ending, or they live everything with great intensity.
