Munich – This summer the weather forecast will turn into a severe weather forecast. Because the next thunderstorms or at least heavy rains are rarely far away. This weekend also has a lot of spectacular things in its cloudy baggage.
Corinna Borau from wetter.com is already forecasting heavy rainfall in the southwest and on the edge of the Alps for the night on Sunday. “It can pour heavily locally. It will be a very turbulent night, especially in the south, ”emphasizes the meteorologist. Elsewhere in Germany it remains dry and sometimes loosened up. However, it can cool down to ten degrees in the far north.

The storms * then use Sunday to tour the country. It can “crack violently and also pour,” warns the weather expert. First of all, there is the greatest danger for Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg and the west up to Frankfurt. In the afternoon this applies to Lower Saxony and northern North Rhine-Westphalia down to the lower Danube.
Strong thunderstorms are to be expected “especially along the eastern low mountain range towards the center”. In the meantime, the situation in the southwest is supposed to calm down, there are good prospects for the Upper Rhine with sunshine at up to 25 degrees.

The prospects for the north are different. From Lusatia to the North Sea, according to Borau, things are “much more turbulent”, in some places heavy rain * is to be expected: “20 to 50 liters within a short time are quite possible.” 28 or 29 degrees are possible here.
In the evening, the east is threatened with bad weather. However, there are “still great uncertainties as to how far these storms will advance, they may already make it to the gates of Berlin”. So it hardly stays completely dry anywhere in the country on Sunday.

This scheme continues in the new week. The thunderstorms then move across the Baltic Sea, but new strong thunderstorms * are already emerging from the southwest. Or as Borau puts it: “It starts all over again.” In Lusatia and the Upper Palatinate, it can get up to 30 or even 31 degrees in midsummer, around Munich 27 degrees are to be expected.
On Tuesday, the new storms will make their way through Germany *. The northeast will probably be spared, at least for the time being, and can look forward to up to 33 degrees.
