Long before LEGO filled us with games inspired by DC Comics heroes and the creators of Mortal Kombat made them collide, members of the Justice League were hopefully adapted to video games. Of course, others fell by the wayside, such as the PS2 Justice League Unlimited.
The YouTube channel of Jon Burton , who was director of Traveller’s Tales / Tt Games, has shown the prototype of a game for Sony’s 128-bit based on the animated series that aired between 2001 and 2004. A true rarity that never it had been shown before .
According to Burton, the title was commissioned by the now defunct Midway and, given what we have seen, it was in a really advanced development phase, enough to have menus and be playable.
In fact, what is most striking about this unfinished project is how, in a way, it anticipated the formula of current LEGO titles , replacing the look of Danish blocks and pieces with 3D versions of Bruce Timm’s designs. . Of course, still in development.
This Justice League for PS2 had also been designed for two players and despite the fact that only one level and two heroines (Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman) have been shown, it has more than twenty playable scenarios . In this sense, Jon Burton anticipates that if it generates the following interest, he would have no problem showing the rest of the game.
Would it have been a success or a failure? Well, looking at how well Warner and Tt Games have done with the LEGO superhero saga, nothing is impossible. And we must admit that the game of Supervillains does not look bad either.
