My partner Jarkendia gave us yesterday the development of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II’ , the second installment of this new saga created by SEGA to revitalize the decadent character of his company. The game, which reached the online platforms of PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, in addition to iOS devices, did not end up catching on among the gaming community, which considered it insufficient to return the hedgehog to the throne that he lost several generations ago.
Despite this, SEGA does not give up, it still believes in the potential of Sonic , especially now that ‘Sonic Generations’ has restored the confidence of fans of the mascot, so it is already preparing the second episode of a string of downloadable games that they are yet to come. The bad news is that, unlike what happened in the past, Wii owners will not be able to enjoy the new installment on their console. This has been confirmed by Ken Balough of SEGA in the company’s forums:
The reason the first episode came to Wii was because we wanted to bring the ‘Sonic 4’ saga to the widest audience possible. Episode II is unfortunately not coming to the Wii, for reasons most of you may have guessed by now, but that doesn’t mean that SEGA doesn’t support Nintendo platforms, we have a very strong business relationship and it will continue to do so.
It seems that the main reason for SEGA to make this decision is largely linked to the size policy on Wiiware downloads , which would make that option impossible. However, they have not talked about Nintendo 3DS, which apparently does not have the same limitations.
