The first ultrasound in pregnancy is undoubtedly one of the most emotional moments of this adventure, since it is the first time that it is possible to have an image of our baby. But for a man suffering from blindness, this was not possible … at the time.
Thanks to a friend of the couple, the next new father was able to ‘see’ the first ultrasound of his baby , through embroidery with special enhancements. We tell you their story.
Nathan Edge, who completely lost his vision seven years ago, is expecting his first baby with his partner Emma. Although after so many years he is not discouraged by having gone blind, things changed with Emma’s pregnancy.
After the long-awaited appointment for their baby’s first ultrasound, Emma and Nathan shared the image with their family and friends, which caused excitement and excitement in everyone. And that’s when he felt somewhat sad.
In an interview for Today, Nathan says that when he heard everyone talk about the ultrasound, for the first time he felt bad about not being able to see and thought that he would never be able to see that image like the rest of his family . But luckily, a friend of theirs got to work.
Deb Fisher volunteers for a guide dog organization, and through it she met Nathan. Thinking that he would not be able to see the ultrasound, she decided to give him a very special gift: to embroider it .
The result took Nathan by surprise, who by having this tactile and embossed version of the ultrasound, was able to imagine and observe his baby through touch .
How incredible is this 😍
Received this amazing surprise today… it’s an embroided tactile version of our 12 week baby scan, so for the first time as a blind dad to be, I’m able to build a picture of our baby scan through touch ❤️
Can’t describe how amazing this is 😍 pic.twitter.com/3Qm01MlzhS
