The Jarama circuit in Madrid hosts driving courses from the Volkswagen Driving Experience school, events attended by more than 750 people for several days. In total, nearly 30,000 drivers have attended the school since its creation 19 years ago. Volkswagen’s goal is to help drivers improve their driving technique by showing them the full potential of the technology incorporated in the brand’s vehicles with the aim of reducing accidents on Spanish roads. “Volkswagen Driving Experience is a strategic program to fulfill our commitment to road safety”, explains Albert García , Director of Marketing for Volkswagen in Spain.
It all started in 2003, when Volkswagen organized training sessions for the commercial network at the Jerez Circuit. The experience was so successful that it was decided to extend the event to the brand’s customers so that they could get to know and try first-hand the latest technologies and security systems that equipped the most recent models in its range. Since then, the most emblematic circuits in our country such as Montmeló, Jarama, Los Arcos, Ascari or Cheste, among others, have hosted Volkswagen driving courses. Today, the Volkswagen Driving Experience is a project open to customers and non-customers of the brand and has a top-level team of instructors and the support of Luis Moya, two-time world rally champion and brand ambassador.
Throughout these years, this program has evolved incorporating new courses with a more personalized offer adapted to the needs of customers. In 2014, the R School was born and, two years later, the R Junior School, focused on young drivers with less than two years of license.
In 2020, and coinciding with the launch of the ID.3, Volkswagen positioned itself as one of the first brands in Spain to offer a driving course designed specifically for electric vehicles . “It is necessary for brands to take an active role in disseminating this new technology. The Driving Experience is a magnificent opportunity to bring our customers closer to the keys to this new emission-free mobility and show them the advantages and fun that lie behind of an electric vehicle,” underlines García.
Last year, the brand took a further step by expanding its offer with new personalized courses and private sessions with professional instructors. “Our driving program is highly valued by attendees and is a very powerful tool for loyalty and recruitment because it allows us to transmit all the emotion and fun of our product in a completely safe environment. We are continually innovating with new formats so that our clients live a unique experience adapted to their real needs”, concludes the manager.
