A new benchmark for Kia

Europe has placed the banner of sustainability on its shoulder. The old continent is, by far, the most severe in the application of environmental plans in governments and companies. The regulations, and the astronomical fines that non-compliance with them entails, are the great challenge for manufacturers who want to market their cars in EU countries. An obstacle that not only affects European brands, far from it. Asian firms, which had managed to earn their share of the cake with a dose of patience, design and reliability, must also adapt to these new demands . And Kia understands this challenge as the possibility of leading the automotive industry.

For this reason they have developed and presented Plan S, aimed at including 14 battery-powered electric models in their portfolio by 2027. That plan begins with the Kia Niro, an SUV that has been completely redesigned from the ground up to address this concern of manufacturers and buyers for the environment. Included in the C-CUV segment, it is one of the most competitive , but the Niro plays a series of tricks to stand out in this saturated automotive line. Moreover, it is a model that can be chosen with various propulsion systems with some type of electrification, that is, an electric hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with up to 65 kilometers; and battery electric (BEV), with a range of up to 463.

“Kia has rethought the Niro to offer people a more open path to clean mobility. The range of eco-friendly powertrains will encourage even the most hesitant customers to switch to more sustainable means of travel,” said Jason Jeong , President. of Kia Europe. “The popular Niro benefits from Kia’s latest technological advances and can meet the mobility needs of all drivers, attracting new people to the brand. The Niro family is currently Kia’s third best-selling model and this new edition will expand its position as a high-volume model within the brand’s portfolio. It will help accelerate Kia’s global sales of environmentally friendly vehicles to reach two million units by 2030.”
