A Porsche for the wrist

There are many collaborations that car brands have today. For example, manufacturers such as Mazda or Maserati have joined fashion, Mercedes-Benz is a sponsor of tennis, Cupra with several sports in addition to sneakers such as Mikakus or a Cupra padel racket in collaboration with Wilson Sporting Goods. Porsche is another of the brands with a long experience of collaborating with fashion accessories. Now, its alliance with TAG Heuer has given life to a very exclusive watch .

Before going into detail, TAG and Porsche share a rich history, a powerful independent mindset and a strong dedication to design excellence. Their paths have been meeting and intertwining for more than 50 years, both inside and outside the racing circuits. Their bond, solid and lasting, is based on car racing, and one of the main exponents of this common trajectory is, without a doubt, the Carrera model itself. And it is that the Carrera Panamericana is a legendary test, famous for being one of the most dangerous in the world. He inspired both Porsche, who named one of its models in his honour, and Jack Heuer , who decided to name his new 1963 chronograph after him after hearing the event’s evocative name.

Since then, the Porsche 911 Carrera and the TAG Heuer Carrera watch have become legends and true icons for car and watch lovers all over the world. In this context, it is natural that the two partners chose the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph model – the ultimate symbol of what both brands can achieve together – to express their love for each other.

“For this second chapter of our alliance, it seemed natural to us to continue our path of co-creations through the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph model, but from a completely new approach. For this new limited edition, we wanted to emphasize the sporty facet of the Porsche Carrera: Our teams, in collaboration with Porsche, have combined their technical knowledge and creativity to create a watch with a powerful design and a bold, sporty look,” explains Frédéric Arnault , CEO of TAG Heuer.

“The Carrera myth plays an important role in Porsche’s heritage and is one of the many things our brand has in common with TAG Heuer,” says Robert Ader , Marketing Director of Porsche AG. “After a year of fruitful collaboration, we are pleased to introduce another tangible symbol of the special connection between the two iconic brands.”

Now, getting to the point, the TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Edition watch is based on the emblematic TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph model: it offers exceptional performance thanks to its Caliber Heuer 02 mechanism developed by the brand itself. A movement made entirely in the TAG Heuer Manufacture in Chevenez, with 168 components including a column wheel and a vertical clutch. These features give the chronograph exceptional performance, such as its impressive 80-hour power reserve.

It incorporates the yellow color that Porsche uses in racing and is reserved for the sportiest of its vehicles. The Porsche logo can be seen on the bezel, on the crown and in subtle graphic details on the dial and seconds hand. The color is also present in the luminescence of the Super-LumiNova, which glows yellow in the dark. The two secondary dials imitate the black of asphalt and the double-stitched leather strap inspired by the seat upholstery in Porsche cars are other surprising details.

This limited edition has been engraved with the inscription One of 1,500 and comes in a personalized box in the colors of the edition. The watches are available now and will be sold primarily at selected outlets and TAG Heuer boutiques.
