Sustainable mobility is in fashion. But not fashionable like someone who buys a more or less fitted pants because that season is worn, but because sustainability is the future of motorsports. Electric vehicles will improve our pollution levels, traffic and our health in general. Something very necessary not only because the authorities demand it, but when our society gets used to it, it will also notice the improvement.
Given this, the company Free2move eSolutions (a joint venture between Stellantis and NHOA) has something to contribute. And it is that it wants to become the protagonist of sustainable mobility, thanks to its products aimed at private customers and companies , but also thanks to its more futuristic projects. “We are a reality that is growing rapidly and is becoming a major player on the international electric mobility scene. In less than a year of life we have exceeded 110 employees and have already brilliantly passed the start-up phase to officially enter into that of a structured and complete company”, they explain from the brand.
Its goal is to become a leader in the design, development, production and distribution of electric mobility products. To this end, “we have approached our activities with an innovative spirit, almost as if we were pioneers, and as such we want to guide the transition towards new forms of electric mobility. We want to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and we want to be able to lead our society towards more responsible mobility”, they add.
According to the Boston Consulting Group and Eurostat, 581,000 jobs will be created by 2030 for the transition to electric mobility. The charging infrastructure industry alone will grow from around 20,000 employees in 2019 to around 120,000 in 2030. And around 740 GWh is Europe’s projected battery production in 2030. That’s why companies like this create a real supply chain.
But to be successful, it is not enough to offer products to recharge, you have to be able to eliminate ‘range anxiety’ . For this reason, Free2move eSolutions has a wide range of recharge products in its range but we also offer what we call recharge as a service, that is, a single app (and card) thanks to which it is possible to recharge at more than 270 thousand points in throughout Europe, without worries of any kind, without having to worry about recovering different apps and cards for each manager. All this by simply paying a fixed monthly fee .
Likewise, a third line of activity that they follow is ‘Advanced Energy Services’. It is a Vehicle2Grid project whose protagonist is the 500 electric cars temporarily parked in the Drosso logistics yard, at the Stellantis plant in Mirafiori, Turin. Connected to bi-directional charging stations designed by Free2move eSolutions, which in turn communicate with a fixed storage unit made from recycled batteries (second life batteries), the cars will allow power to be supplied to the electricity grid when needed, while waiting to be delivered to dealers or customers.
Moreover, in an era in which renewable sources are becoming increasingly important, a service like this will allow the network to be stabilized and the power peaks required to be optimally managed. At the moment there are 64 cars connected to the network, but in the coming months the project will be completed with much more significant numbers. In total, 280 double bidirectional charging points (2x50kW each) will be installed, whose technology allows the car to be charged and energy to be returned to the network. And the almost 600 connected cars will be able to guarantee a maximum power of 30.8 MW.
And it is that V2G technology allows vehicles to exchange energy with the network in an intelligent way, turning them into a valuable resource for the electrical system, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable system and representing an opportunity to optimize the operating costs of vehicles. vehicles for the benefit of motorists, as well as a concrete possibility of contributing to a more sustainable electrical system.
