A video game to save the world from climate change

videojuego-clima Fate of the World is an original strategy video game that puts the future of the planet in our hands . Although in this case, instead of fighting against aliens or strong warriors, the enemy to be defeated is climate change . At the head of an international environmental body , the player must decide how to respond to rising temperatures as a result of greenhouse gas emissions, fight against the depletion of resources (water, food …) and save destroyed ecosystems. It will also face global pandemics and natural disasters such as those caused by rising sea levels or devastating hurricanes.

Physicist Myles Allen, who directs the Climate Dynamics research group at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), has participated as a scientific advisor in the creation of this video game. The author of the plot is David Bishop, author of comics and writer of series like Dr. Who . And the music has been in charge of Richard Jacques, composer of the soundtrack of Alice in Wonderland .

Although the definitive version for PC will not be available until the beginning of 2011, the order can already be made through the web www.fateoftheworld.net. Those who pre-order it before November 20 will have immediate access to the beta version. For the Mac version we will have to wait until next spring.
