Cologne – He is said to have shot his lover and burned her body: A 35-year-old man has been standing before the Cologne district court for insidious murder since Thursday.
The motive for the act at the end of 2020 is still unclear. According to the indictment, the Turk had a relationship with the married woman from the vicinity of Koblenz.
On the evening of December 17th, the two are said to have driven through Cologne in the 31-year-old’s car. At some point the man who was driving the car stopped and got out. “At least now the defendant made the decision to kill them,” said the prosecutor.
The defendant then went around the back of the vehicle, drew a “modified alarm gun” and shot the unsuspecting woman twice in the head through the open passenger door or the open window. The victim had no chance and was killed instantly.
One day later, the defendant is said to have brought the body to Ochtendung in Rhineland-Palatinate with the help of an accomplice. On a forest path, he is said to have doused the dead with fire accelerator and set fire to them. Walkers found the charred corpse. The investigators later secured the woman’s car in Cologne.
In court, the defendant initially gave no information about the allegations. His defense attorney said on the sidelines of the trial that he was convinced of his client’s innocence. “Sometimes things are different from what they seem,” said the lawyer. A verdict in the process could be given in mid-November. dpa
