Activision advises: if you own a 500GB PS4, you may not have enough space to install Call of Duty: Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare

One of the most important moments in the Call of Duty lifecycle is happening right now. The arrival of Season Two to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone brings a huge amount of content, even with a new zombie mode called Outbreak. You can also enjoy the free week of play for multiplayer modes.

However, not all users may be so happy to enjoy the new additions. Through the Call of Duty blog, Activision has made a particular but important warning about the storage capacity of PS4 owners.

Specifically, if you have a PS4 whose storage capacity is not more than 500GB , you may have problems when installing the new updates. This scenario can occur if the titles you own are Black Ops Cold War, Warzone and Modern Warfare already installed on the console.

To the current space that the three games add up to right now, these new patches would have to be added, so the limit of the Sony machine would be exceeded . Specifically, this is the size of the updates for the different platforms:

Black Ops Cold War upgrade sizes

  • PlayStation 5: 18,0 GB
  • PlayStation 4:  10,5 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 26,5 GB
  • Xbox One:  15,3 GB
  • PC:  13,7 GB

Warzone upgrade sizes

  • PlayStation 5: 17.0 GB
  • PlayStation 4:  17.0 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 17,9 GB
  • Xbox One:  17,9 GB
  • PC:  16,9 GB ( solo Warzone ) / 20,8 GB ( Warzone y Modern Warfare )

Once the figures were clarified, the company has clarified in its message that you may need to “make room if you have the full versions of Modern Warfare / Warzone and Black Ops Cold War with all modes and packages installed .” Something that can be common in many cases. To address this problem, Activision proposes the following solutions:

Free up space in Black Ops Cold War

From the main menu, press R3 to go to “File Management.” You can then remove any content that hasn’t been played in a while. The exact content to choose from can be found in the Storage Management article linked below.

Free up space in Modern Warfare / Warzone

From the main menu, press Options, select the “General” tab, and then scroll down to “Game Installations.” From here, you can delete any content that hasn’t been played in a while.

For those who are still not clear on it, it is necessary to clarify that regardless of the platform you play on, the download of Warzone is not necessary if you only play Black Ops Cold War and vice versa.

Alternatively, users can choose to uninstall or remove other data packages if they are no longer required for a smaller overall file size. If you want to know in detail the Black Ops Cold War file deletion processes on all platforms, go to this link.
