Activists are naming the place after George Floyd – many believe the action has failed

In Stuttgart, activists have put up a sign with the name of George Floyds on the busy Erwin-Schoettle-Platz. Some consider the action to be a failure.

Stuttgart – George Floyd was killed a year ago in a police operation in Minneapolis, USA. A white police officer had kneeled on his neck with full weight for more than nine minutes. A year later, on the anniversary of George Floyd's death, Stuttgart activists have renamed Erwin-Schoettle-Platz in memory of the incident. On May 25, the group “0711 united” put the name of the American who had died as a result of police violence on one of the street signs in the busy square in Stuttgart. As BW24 * reports, the activists are receiving criticism because the square is named after a German resistance fighter.

Last year, strangers had named Bismarckplatz in Stuttgart (BW24 * reported) after George Floyd. * BW24 is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
